Christine M. Piotrowski, FASID, IIDA has been involved in the interior design industry for 30 years. Throughout her career she has had a passionate interest in design business practices. “Interior design is a profit making profession. Excellent business practices helps designers achieve that,” believes Christine.
Working as an interior designer in commercial and residential settings as well as her own design practice, she has been a professional level member of ASID and IIDA (IBD) since the early 1980s and holds a NCIDQ certificate. Christine was honored with Fellowship in ASID—the highest level of membership—in 2007.
Christine gained valuable management experience as a design director at an office furnishings dealer as well as a business owner. Working with small design practice owners, she has consulted on a variety of issues including strategic planning, business operations, and marketing. She understands the interior design profession and can help you focus your efforts.
As a professor of interior design, she taught business practices for 16 years expanding her knowledge base on design business practices. She also taught numerous other studio and lecture classes. Christine gained the prestigious rank of full professor.
Her very first attempt at publishing a book successfully occurred in 1989 with the release of Professional Practice for Interior Designers. She has gone on to author three other book titles and a co author of one other for a total of 10 books. Christine has also had articles published in the ASID ICON, and Sources and Design magazine. Her award winning books are used by schools and professionals across the country and sold throughout the world.
Speaking comes naturally to her and she has been a frequent speaker at conferences, chapters, and colleges. Christine has been a part of the ASID Distinguished Speakers Series since the program was established in 2006 and has been a featured speaker at chapters across the country.
